"Project based learning is an instructional approach that provides opportunity for students and teachers to "dig deeply” into a topic, going beyond rote learning and grappling with the concepts and understandings fundamental to one or more content areas. This approach cannot be accomplished simply through an internet search, but rather requires rigorous thought and analysis. Projects begin with a challenging problem or question, and involve authenticity (with a real-world context, a real-world task, a real-world impact, and/or a genuine connection with students' personal concerns or interests and/or the issues, needs, values, language and/or cultural practices of a student's community). Project based learning involves students' voice and choice. Project based learning involves reflection, critique and revision, and finally, a public product.” (Larmer, Mergendoller, & Boss)
